Simple Birthday Cupcake for New Years Challenge at SCS

Jordan and I are trying to stay awake, play some games, stamp a little, and ring in the New Year. I saw that SCS is posting some challenges which has distracted me from the baby announcements that I should be making for a friend that is due on Saturday, January 3rd.

There are a series of challenges so you will have lots to look at if I get to them all. The first challenge is to make a friendship themed card that also has some type of food on it. So I made this Simple Birthday Cupcake.
Supplies:
Stamps: Simple Birthday Thanks, Love You Much
Ink: Basic Black
Paper: Real Red, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Summer Picnic DSP
Accessories: Real Red & Basic Black Stampin' Write Markers, Dazzling Diamonds (for the candy on the frosting), Crimper, Paper Snips (each layer of the cupcake is cut out before reassembling), Ticket Corner Punch.
Hope you like it. Its a little putsy but worth it in the end!!

Happy New Baby

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY LILEE ARIE!!

My Cousin had her baby last Saturday, December 20th. She is beautiful!! She is 1 week old!! Unfortunately she lives in Arizona and we are in Wisconsin so we have to rely on email to see pictures of her.

Lilee's mom is my son's Godmother & he was very distressed when he found out she was pregnant. He thought that she wouldn't love him anymore.

Since Lilee's arrival he has checked my emails and text messages daily to see if there are any new pictures of her. He keeps bugging me to take a trip to AZ soon! He continues to find similarities to be sure that she is his baby cousin! It is kinda cute.

These are the baby shower invites I made for her, the announcements were along the same lines.
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Hugs & Wishes
Ink: Basic Black
Paper: Whisper White (regular & textured/lamb), Mellow Moss, Basic Black.
Accessories: Mellow Moss Gingham Ribbon, PUNCHES: Word Window, Scallop Circle, Boho Blossom, Small Oval

Simple Rustic Rooster

I have been wanting to play with my new stamp set: RUSTIC ROOSTER. This is another sneak peak at the 2009 Spring/Summer Stampin' UP! Catalog. This is one of the new Level 2 Hostess Stamp Sets. I will also be doing this card for an upcoming card class at work.
I started by stamping the rooster with Basic Black & used Blender Pens to color the rooster with Real Red, to get a couple different shades. I also used an Old Olive Stampin' Write Marker to trace the little bit of grass at the bottom of the image. The I stamped the "friend to friend", from the new Love You Much Stamp Set, in Basic Black.

Supplies I used for this card are as follows:

Stamps: Rustic Rooster & Love You Much

Ink: Basic Black & Real Red

Stampin' Write Marker: Old Olive

Accessories: Blender Pens & 1/4" Black Grosgrain Ribbon

Thanks for stopping by and checking it out!!

I couldn't find my camera so I used the camera on my phone to take the picture. Sorry if its not the best quality.

Thankful

Check this out!! One of blogs that I like to watch: Created By Courtney is giving away some goodies!! She has asked that to be entered into the drawing that you leave a message to say what you are thankful for, subscribe to "follow" her blog & add a link to let others know about her blog & blog candy.

I love treats so this is my little blurb to advertise her blog.

What are you thankful for? I am thankful for my son mostly, he is the light of my life & keeps me going even when things are rough. Secondly, I am thankful for my Mom! She has sacrificed A LOT for me and Jordan. Thirdly I am thankful for the rest of my family (aunts, uncles & cousins) without them, family wouldn't be the same. Fourth, I am thankful for my friends that put up with me!!

My Apologies

First, I want to apologize to anyone waiting for new posts. My computer crashed and I have been down for about a week. I promise to get something uploaded and added to my blog tomorrow.

Inspired Thinking

The picture is a little dark but I like how it turned out. I wasn't so sure about this stamp set, INSPIRED BY NATURE, but it was given to me by my upline. I have used it ALOT more than I ever thought I would.

I started by stamping the "grass" with VERSAMARK onto TANGERINE TANGO cardstock. On WHISPER WHITE cardstock I stamped the flower image by adding TANGERINE TANGO CLASSIC INK to the flower stamp, then added OLD OLIVE with a STAMPIN' WRITE MARKER to the stems and leaves and CHOCOLATE CHIP with a STAMPIN' WRITE MARKER to the "thistle" of the flower. I layered this onto CHOCOLATE CHIP cardstock. Then I added a strip of OLD OLIVE cardstock with "Thinking of You" from WARM REGARDS stamp set in CHOCOLATE CHIP CLASSIC INK PAD. With OLD OLIVE cardstock I punch a ROUND TAB PUNCH and attached to the flower. I punched a 1/4" CIRCLE PUNCH and added a little 1/2" PUMPKIN PIE STRIPED GROSGRAIN RIBBON. This is all layered on a 1/4 sheet of CHOCOLATE CHIP cardstock. The card opens with the TANGERINE TANGO cardstock on the right side.

Gift Pack of Cards & 6 weeks of Lunch Time Card Classes

SPECIAL CARD GIFT PACK

My Aunt asked me to make a gift pack of a dozen Christmas cards for a family friend. So, I thought I would make 6 designs (2 of each) and use the designs for the few week s of my Lunchtime Card Classes at work.

FIRST CARD: No-Frills Cardinal

The stamp set is called A CARDINAL CHRISTMAS and is in the SU Mini Catalog. The MERRY CHRISTMAS sentiment is also from that stamp set. I used RED RIDING HOOD RED cardstock and ink along with WHISPER WHITE card stock. I used the TAG CORNER PUNCH. I added a little knot made from RIDING HOOD RED TAFFETA RIBBON. In my class they will be making this card along with a Candle that is similar to an earlier post.

SECOND CARD: Navy Snowman

Barb loves snowmen so I used the snowman & sentiment from WISHING YOU CHEER. First the snowman is stamped with BASIC BLACK CLASSIC INK PAD, colored with SU STAMPIN' WRITE MARKERS (NIGHT OF NAVY, BROCADE BLUE, ROSE RED, ALWAYS ARTICHOKE, & PUMPKIN PIE). I also used the SNOW JUMBO WHEEL that is stamped in NIGHT OF NAVY CLASSIC INK onto BROCADE BLUE card stock. The base of the card is NIGHT OF NAVY cardstock, which is also utilized behind the snowman & also on the 1/2 front of the card there is a piece attached that has been punched with the SCALLOP EDGE PUNCH. The snowman had to sparkle so he is coated with DAZZLING DIAMONDS.

THIRD CARD: Poinsettia Kisses

I started by stamping two of the flowers from DOODLE THIS stamp set with WHISPER WHITE CRAFT INK onto RIDING HOOD RED cardstock and applying WINTER WHITE emboss powder. The I then cut them out & put them together using a RHINESTONE BRAD. Next I cut KIWI KISS card stock & stamped the sentiment from the hostess set BEST YET in CHOCOLATE CHIP CLASSIC INK. Then I attached a piece of CHOCOLATE CHIP card stock that I punched with the SCALLOP EDGE PUNCH. Next I tied a knot into the new KIWI KISS/VERY VANILLA SATIN RIBBON. This ribbon is GREAT!! It is heavy but is so SOFT and easy to work with. I attached this to have 1/2 sheet of WHISPER WHITE card stock. Then attached the "poinsettia" to the card with a POP UP GLUE DOT.

FOURTH CARD: RUDOLPH

Can't have Christmas without Rudolph!! The base of the card is REAL RED card stock. Then I layered a piece of SUMMER PICNIC DSP onto WHISPER WHITE cardstock with RED GINGHAM RIBBON wrapped around & tied into a knot. "MERRY CHRISTMAS" (from HOLIDAYS & WISHES stamp set) is stamped in REAL RED CLASSIC INK. Next I SCALLOP PUNCHed GARDEN GREEN cardstock. Layered a REAL RED cardstock punched with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch. Finally stamped the reindeer from the hostess set DEER FRIENDS with CHOCOLATE CHIP CLASSIC INK and punched out with the 1-1/4" Circle punch, attached to the layered REAL RED circle. Then made Rudolph's nose red with the Rose FINE COSMO glitter.

FIFTH CARD - Warm Copper Wishes

I saw this card on Splitcoast but it was done with Gold. I didn't think I had any gold paper (which I found out I was wrong after I was done) so I used Copper. I know that this is retired from the SU catalog but I still like it & it is pretty close to gold. I stamped the snowflakes from SNOWBURST in Copper Encore Ink onto WHISPER WHITE card stock and then I used IRIDESCENT ICE emboss powder to add a little extra sparkle. These strips are layered on top of BRUSHED COPPER card stock which is on VERY VANILLA cardstock. The "Warm Wishes" comes from HUGS & WISHES which is also stamped with the COPPER ENCORE INK PAD and embossed with IRIDESCENT ICE emboss powder. Then a little VERY VANILLA 1/4" GROSGRAIN RIBBON.

LAST BUT NO LEAST the SIXTH CARD: Santa on Santa

Started with REAL RED card stock. Cut a 2" strip of WHISPER WHITE cardstock and tore down each side so that is looks like the fur on Santa's coat. Santa's belt (at the bottom of the card) is a small strip of BASIC BLACK cardstock & slid onto a pop-can top used as the buckle. The stamped Santa from JOLLIEST TIME OF THE YEAR with BASIC BLACK CLASSIC INK PAD onto WHISPER WHITE cardstock. I colored Santa with SU STAMPIN' WRITE MARKERS (BLUSH BLOSSOM, REAL RED, BASIC BLACK & GOING GREY). I used a SPONGE DAUBER with BASHFUL BLUE CLASSIC INK to highlight Santa. This is layered onto BASIC BLACK card stock.

I hope you like the Card Set that I created. Let me know if you have any questions or if you'd like to place an order or host a workshop to earn some of these hostess sets!!

Thanks for looking!

Candles, Candles, Candles

I have a meeting tomorrow with fellow demonstrators and we are having our annual holiday party & pot luck. We always do a stamped gift exchange. So, this is what I made.

I used A Cardinal Christmas & Snowburst stamp sets. I used Always Artichoke (it looks more like Old Olive on the candles), Real Red & Basic Black Classic Ink Pads. I colored the Cardinal with SU Markers: Real Red, Always Artichoke, More Mustard & Close to Cocoa.

I put some organdy ribbon on each of the candles to dress them up a little. Then I put them onto a charger plate & added some cinnamon smelling potpourri.

After I was done with this project, my son asked if we could make a "blue bird". As you may have read in previous posts, blue is his favorite color. So I tried it out. I colored the bird with Pacific Point Reinker & a blender pen, More Mustard on the beak & feet. The I used Mellow Moss & Always Artichoke on the leaves, Real Red on the berries & Close to Cocoa on the branches. He loved it. We will be giving it to his teacher for part of her gift.
Thanks for looking today!!

The Blue Train of Happiness is now boarding!!

I have to admit, the boy knows what he likes and it works!! He has been wanting me to make my previous card in BLUE, which is his favorite color. We finally had a free minute to try out the train in blue. He is a Thomas the Tank Engine "nut" so the new Pacific Point is perfect!!

I stamped the snowflakes from the SNOW FLURRIES stamp set in PACIFIC POINT CLASSIC INK PAD on WHISPER WHITE CARDSTOCK. The I stamped the "Happiness is a Journey not a Destination" saying from the HAPPINESS IS A JOURNEY stamp set. Then I embossed it with IRIDESCENT ICE EMBOSSING POWDER. Then I layered BASHFUL BLUE CARDSTOCK that I punched with the new SCALLOP EDGE PUNCH. Next I stamped the train image from the HAPPINESS IS A JOURNEY stamp set in WHISPER WHITE CRAFT PAD onto PACIFIC POINT CARDSTOCK and also embossed it with IRIDESCENT ICE EMBOSSING POWDER. Then I attached 1/4" GROSSGRAIN RIBBON that I tied into a knot.
Thanks for looking & I hope you like it half as much as Jordan!! Have a great night!!

Watercolored Autumn Harvest

This is the card that they made for my lunch time card class this week. I wanted to make a fall card & use my Autumn Harvest stamp set.

Here I used the leaf and stamped with Garden Green onto Garden Green Cardstock. Then I layered Summer Sun Cardstock behind Ruby Red Cardstock. Then I used some Ivory Organdy Ribbon that I had leftover. We stamped the pumpkins, gourd & leaves with Chocolate Chip onto Ivory Cardstock. Then we colored them using Earth Elements

Watercolor crayons and an Aqua Painter. Then we cut them out with Paper Snips & attached them to the Ruby Red Cardstock.

I really like how it turned out. Thanks for looking!

Christmas Happiness

My son, Jordan is a HUGE train fanatic. When my friend Angel was at Convention she sent me a text message of this new stamp set. He went crazy because "steamies" are his favorites!! He told me right then & there that WE WILL be using that stamp set for our Christmas cards because it reminded him of the Polar Express. So I finally broke down and ordered it last week. I have been looking for some different samples & found one that I really liked but it was done with black, grey & white only. Jordan first wanted it to be blue but then remembered Christmas Colors and picked these out. I am not sure that we are completely happy with it yet. So we will keep playing but at least wanted to get the idea out there. Who knows maybe it will end up being blue in the end.....blue is okay, right??

For this sample I stamped Whisper White Craft Ink onto Basic Black Card stock. Then I embossed it with Iridescent Ice to try & get the snowy effect onto it. Then it is layered on Real Red Card Stock & embellished with Red Gingham Ribbon. I also stamped the "Happiness is a Journey not a Destination" saying in Whisper White Craft Ink onto Garden Green Card stock & embossed it with Iridescent Ice. and layered that onto the Whisper White Card Stock that I stamped with the Polka Dot Background stamp in Real Red.

I would really love to hear what you think of this card. I am not quite sure what I think of it. Do you think it is missing something??

Thanks for looking & would love to hear your opinions!!

We Will Miss You Violet!!

My Aunt Violet is moving to Arizona next week. She has always been more like a sister than an Aunt. I will miss her alot. My son, Jordan, is also very fond of her & is having a hard time with this. Her daughter (who is Jordan's Godmother) moved to Phoenix a few years ago. She is pregnant and due in December. So, Violet is moving closer to help her out & just be closer to them.

I made this card to give her this weekend when we are there to say good-bye to her. Green is one of her favorite colors. The layout and colors are different challenges that I thought I'd participate in.

I stamped the "grass" on the Kiwi Kiss paper with Versamark. To get the multi-colors on the flowers I used Sponge Daubers. The added a little sparkle with Dazzling Diamonds

The recipe for the card is as follows:

Stamps: Inspired by Nature & Heard from the Heart.

Paper: Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, Kiwi Kiss & Chocolate Chip

Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, Versamark & Chocolate Chip

Accessories: Sponge Daubers, Dazzling Diamonds

Shelley's Christmas Card

My friend Shelley stopped by last night so we could figure out her Christmas Card for this year. She has had her eye on the SU Stamp Set "Christmas Classics" She likes to make cards that require a little extra work (putzy). So this is what we came up with.

We tried the new Scallop Edge Medallion & layered the ornaments that we cut out on the top. We also thought the Riding Hood Red Medallion got lost a little so we layered Whisper White behind it. After we took the picture, we decided it needed some Dazzling Diamonds on the ornaments to make the "pop" even more.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Christmas Classics
Ink: Garden Green, Riding Hood Red & Tangerine Tango
Paper: Whisper White, Garden Green, Riding Hood Red
Accessories: Scallop Edge Punch, Word Window Punch, Riding Hood Red Tafetta Ribbon & Silver Elastic Cord

SPOOKY NIGHTS

I have an in-home workshop on Wednesday evening for a friend of mine. She requested that we do a Halloween card for one of the cards. There are a variety of experienced to brand new stampers so I didn't want to overwhelm the newbies. So, this is the card that I came up with.
Card Recipe:
Stamps: Halloween Frights & Haunting Jumbo Roller
Paper: Basic Black, Tangerine Tango, Kiwi Kiss & Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black & Tangerine Tango
Accessories: Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker, Circle Scallop Punch, 1-3/8" Circle Punch & 1-1/4" Circle Punch

After I took the picture my son wanted me to add "wiggly" eyes so we added them to the pumpkin at the top. VERY CUTE!!

Sailing to Recovery - 10/14 Card Class

This is the card that I talked about making in my previous blog entry.
I made this card for a male friend that had surgery.
Since it was a male friend, I wanted to use up some of my retired supplies. I also had a request for a "man card" from one of the ladies that attends my lunchtime card class at work. So since I still had quite a bit of the Blue Bayou Double Stitch Ribbon I thought I'd have them make this one. This will also give them a new technique...Polished Stone, which most of them have never done.
CARD RECIPE:
Stamps: Winds of Grace, Polka Dot Background & Fresh Cuts
Paper: Blue Bayou, River Rock, Soft Sky & Glossy White
Ink: Black Stazon, Blue Bayou Ink Pad & Reinker, Soft Sky Reinker, & River Rock Reinker
Accessories: Blue Bayou Double Stitch Ribbon

Christmas Cardinal

I recently signed up for a Mini Catalog swap. The first card I made was the Cardinal with Pink Pirouette. I like it but thought I wanted to see what the new Baha Breeze looked like. I couldn't decide which one I liked better so I am sending half Baha Breeze & half Pink Pirouette. I hope they enjoy them!!

I got the layout over at SCS from a Sketch challege (SC193) about a month ago. I have used it for this card and a Get Well Card that I made the week of the challenge.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: A Cardinal Christmas
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Baha Breeze or Pink Pirouette, & Whisper White
Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Basic Black & Black Stazon
Accessories: 1/4" White Grossgrain Ribbon, 1/16" Handheld Circle Punch, Silver Brads, Tag Corner Punch, Ruby Red Stampin' Write Marker, Summer Sun Stampin' Write Marker, Old Olive Stampin' Write Marker, Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write Marker,

Gerber Daisy Photo Book

Here is a little photo book that I did for a class recently. I got the photobooks at a clearance store but I seen them at Walmart recently for $1. I removed the "preprinted" papers & filled in with my own. I was trying to get the flowers to look like Gerber Daisies so I cut slits into the indents on the scallop punch to make the petals on the flowers. I ran the middles thru the crimper for some added texture. To make the leaves, I folded the oval punch in half & then ran it thru the crimper, opened it up to use as a leaf.

We had a baby shower for my cousin over the weekend & this was one of the prizes.

As always, all images are Copywrite Stampin' UP!

Recipe for the photo album:

Paper: Garden Green, Whispter White, Riding Hood Red, Tangerine Tango, Summer Sun & Chocolate Chip.

Ink: Chocolate Chip

Accessories: Circle Scallop Punch, 1" Circle Punch, Small Oval, Crimper, Summer Sun Stampin' Write Marker

NEW TO THIS!!

Well, I finally decided to start a Blog!!

I have been a SU Demonstrator for just over 2 years now. I am lovin' it!! I do it as a hobby and now try to bring Stampin' UP! to others as well.

I have quite a few people at work that have come to enjoy stampin' as well. So, I usually hold a lunch time stampin' class at work. So, I will be publishing my weekly card class samples out here to share with everyone.

My first post to this blog will be the card that we are making for my class this week is my Frankie Card

All products used are Stampin' UP! and all images are copywrited by Stampin' UP!

The Card Recipe is as follows:

I am also submitting this card for a Fall with a Twist Card Swap that I entered. You were not allowed to use any browns or oranges for this swap so thought this would be perfect!

Thanks for looking & would love to hear what you think about the card and or the new blog!
