Happy 3rd Birthday Cody

My Cousin's little boy, Cody is turning 3 on April Fool's Day!! We are going up north (where he lives) later in the week. So thought I should get working on his card.

Yesterday I picked up this Sixxix Train Die at Michaels with a 50% off coupon I got in an email so I ended up paying $10 for it, how great is that!!

Here are the steps for making the card:

  • Cut Pacific Point Blue Cardstock (4.25x5.5) for base of card
  • Cut Kiwi Kiss Cardstock (4x5.25), layer that on top of the Pacific Point Cardstock.
  • Cut Whisper White Cardstock (3.75x5), layer this on top of the Kiwi Kiss Cardstock.
  • I have some chipboard alphabet & letters, I traced the "3" and cut it out of Kiwi Kiss Cardstock.
  • Next I ran pieces of Pacific Point & Kiwi Kiss Cardstock thru the Big Shot with the Sixxix Train Die. This die has the steam engine, 2 passenger cars & a caboose. I only cut out the engine & one of the cars.
  • I trimmed off the top portion of the passenger car to make it a flatbed to carry my "3".
  • I then attached the Pacific Point train & flatbed (see how the cars interlock, I did cut off the hook at the back of the flatbed since there were no more cars).
  • Remove the center pieces of the Pacific Point train.
  • I punched out the Kiwi Kiss "center pieces" and attached them to the Pacific Point train.
  • Then I attached the smoke puffs.
  • I then cut & attached the back folded portion of the card using Whisper White Cardstock (8.5x5.5), folded it in half & attached it to the finished card front.
  • Last, I stamped the "BIRTHDAY WISHES" sentiment for the Stampin' UP! WOW Flowers Stamp Set.

Suppllies Needed:

  • Stamps: WOW Flowers
  • Paper: Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss & Whisper White
  • Ink: Kiwi Kiss
  • Accessories: Big Shot, Sixxix train die, Boho Flower Punch

Cherish God's Beauty

There are lots of things to cherish in life. We have learned that in our family again! I won't go into details here but it has been a whirlwind on emotions as of late.

My Auntie Susie is a butterfly nut! She has dogs that are of the Papillion breed. Papillion means butterfly. So I was thinking of her when I made this card.

I also got to play with my new Big Shot & the texture plates. I love this new toy!! I have used it a couple of times now for my lunch-time work classes and the girls seem to enjoy it as well.

Steps for making the card are:

  • Only Orange Paper (4x5.25), run thru the Big Shot with the Texture Template
  • Run a Sanding Block over the top, this helps to lighten the color of the raised texture, this process is optional but was used on my sample.
  • Shimmery White (4x2.25), run thru the Big Shot with the Texture Template
  • Basic Black (4x2.5) - punch your Jumbo Oval out of the center
  • Attach your Shimmery White Textured Paper to the Basic Black strip.
  • Then Layer this onto the center of your Only Orange Textured Paper
  • Punch your sentiment onto a Whisper White Cardstock and punch out with the Large Oval Punch.
  • Attach this to the Basic Black Jumbo Oval you punched earlier.
  • Attach this to the bottom left corner of the card front as shown in the picture provided.
  • Word Window Punch - punch two from Shimmery White Cardstock & fold in half.
  • Attach the Word Window Punched pieces to alternating corners as shown in the picture
  • Stamp the butterfly from the Level 1 Hostess Stamp Set, God's Beauty with Basic Black onto Only Orange Cardstock.
  • Cut this out using Paper Snips.
  • Apply Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, as desired.
  • Attach to the Shimmery White Textured Paper with Dimensionals
  • Attach your card front to a folded piece of Whisper White Cardstock (4.25x5.5)

Supplies:

  • Stamps: God's Beauty (Level 1 Hostess Set) & Warm Words (Retired)
  • Paper: Whisper White, Shimmery White, Basic Black & Only Orange
  • Ink: Basic Black
  • Accessories: Dazzling Diamonds, Big Shot with Texture Templates, Word Window Punch, Jumbo Oval, Large Oval, Sanding Block, Dimensionals & Paper Snips

I hope you enjoy the card. Thanks for looking!
